The RTAA would like to thank the Technical Review panel who with their knowledge, expertise and input ensured we had an excellent array of speakers for the RTAA Technical Stream. An incredible 138 abstracts were submitted for review amongst all the different streams at AusRAIL

The RTAA selected a diverse range of papers and has welcomed the large number of responses from the rail industry to participate this year’s RTAA Stream. Most papers generally centred on this year’s theme “Rail’s digital revolution”. Day 1 in the morning focused on the latest technologies in the analysis and maintenance of railway infrastructure. The afternoon session focused on advances in track maintenance vehicles but also touches on innovations in data capture of network assets. Day 2 in the morning saw a change in gear with notable presentations on the development in asset management and contracting strategies to deliver business efficiency. The afternoon session concluded the stream with an assortment of other high quality presentations from rolling stock standards to innovative Metro viaduct designs.

The RTAA embarked on a bold new project to capture and publish the real-life stories of women in rail – the result is “In Her Words” Stories from women in rail.

We looked at the female experience of working in the rail industry - good, bad and just plain UGLY! The aim was to promote cultural change by raising awareness and sharing ideas about what works and what doesn't.

We are extremely pleased to have launched the “In Her Words”* publication at the Yellow Tie Dinner during AusRAIL PLUS.

We would like to thank our sponsors, Transport for NSW, Sydney Trains and NSW Trains for supporting the publication.

This publication was prepared by Julie Tassone on behalf of the RTAA, thanks to Orla O'Sullivan for the original concept and idea.
